Miley Cyrus – she’s all about change. Almost a year ago to the day, she chopped off her hair into a punk pixie in effort to convince us of her cred. Now, she’s dancing and getting all smoldering in rap videos andtwerking her face off. She ‘can’t stop’ ditching that Disney image – you know that which made us care in the first place.
The singer admitted she came thisclose to dropping her last name in effort to fully cut ties with her professional past.
“I was thinking about dropping the Cyrus and just being Miley but there’s something powerful about the fact that my name now is like a household name,” she said (quote via Capital FM). “People have this misconception of me that I’m just one of these kids on TV and that now I go off and party and I’m just this ratchet white girl, and I’m not.”
Okay, so she’s not ratchet and ‘Cyrus’ is a household name, according to Miley.
Most pop stars do go by a single name – Rihanna, who was born “Robin,” mind you, and Madonna, who was christened Madonna, actually, come to mind. And if Miley ditched the “Cyrus,” her recently reconciled parents Billy Ray and Tish might be miffed, but her first name is unique enough and her cult of celebrity is wide enough that she could get away with it.
do you think Miley should part with the Cyrus or keep it? Do you think “Miley” — just Miley — would work for her? Tell us in the comments below.
