Katy Perry was punchy, if a bit pitchy, at the 2013 iHeartRadio Music Festival — and you can watch the whole thing here.
With her hair in two giant buns atop her head, the ‘Prism’ singer opened her set with ‘I Kissed a Girl’ wearing a ying-yang style jacket. Eventually she lied on the floor, awash in her own adoration.
She followed with ‘Dark Horse,’ completely with awkward choreography that it seemed like even she was having a hard time selling. Juicy J emerged to drop his verse, and Perry gave him appropriate props for it at the end of the song.
Next up was ‘Part of Me,’ which was a pretty typical Perry ‘Part of Me’ performance. She seemed more comfortable with the choreography for ‘Part of Me’ than for ‘Dark Horse,’ perhaps because she’s performed it ‘POM’ before. ‘Wide Awake’ came next, which was a more subdued perf than the rest.
“I have a new album coming out in October,” Perry began before launching into her next track, “but that doesn’t mean I won’t play the songs you want to hear now.” She then began ‘California Gurls,’ followed by ‘Teenage Dream’ and ‘Firework,’ from her ‘Teenage Dream’ album — from which, based on her wig-burning videos, she’s desperate to make a departure.
Perry closed with ‘Roar,’ complete with the half-boxing rings and jumpropes that complemented her 2013MTV Video Music Awards performance.
