Miley Cyrus Drops a 'Wrecking Ball' on Times Square...But Fully Clothed

Miley Cyrus has had, unquestionably, one heck of a year. She ended her game-changing 2013 as the key performer on ABC's annual "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" event in New York City -- but after months of controversial outfits (or lack thereof), the singer chose to uncharacteristically cover up on stage.
Yep, no pasties, wedgies, teddy bear suits, or see-through anything. Cyrus wore a relatively tame gold-sequined two-piece pantsuit and a floor-length white fur coat. The only skin she flashed? A bit of midriff.
"I'm ending [2013] modestly," Cyrus told host Ryan Seacrest. A surprising but not bad decision, given that the past 12 months had tongues (beside her own) perpetually wagging about her controversial performance at the Video Music Awards that fall, her bare-naked turn in the video for "Wrecking Ball," and her dalliances with illegal substances...among other things.
However, given that the temps in NYC hovered around a scant 26 degrees at 11:45 p.m. New Year's Eve, the weather was likely the main factor leading Cyrus's decision to cover up; a fact she admitted to Seacrest.
Fans of Cyrus's more daring antics, however, were probably not disappointed by her NYE performance, as it included some of her now-infamous outrageous trademarks, including a little person backup dancer -- also clad in gold sequins. Cyrus also showed the crowd of fans and/or foes the also infamous fact that she can, actually, sing very well; delivering a rendition of "Get It Right" and her ballad "Wrecking Ball." (Sorry everyone, no crying kittens.)
Cyrus's fun and games weren't the only moment that had the crowd hopping. The "Rockin' Eve" special featured performances from a wide spectrum of artists, and therefore was poised to please just about any and all music fans ringing in 2014. Classic rock fans were delighted by a medley of hits from '70s-'80s icons Blondie -- whose 68-year-old frontwoman Debbie Harry showed you don't have to be 21 or shockingly clothed to burn up the stage. Grammy-nominated favorite Macklemore & Ryan Lewis also had Times Square jamming with an expected but still fun rendition of "Thrift Shop."
Also joining the fun from the West Coast was a full other slate of artists on the Pacific Standard Time tip, including Fall Out Boy, Florida Georgia Line, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Enrique Iglesias, and Robin Thicke.
